Claudia Botero was born in the Andes town of Armenia, Colombia (Dep. Quindio) on May 23th. 1969.
Claudia Botero has become a well-known name in the art world since 1996. Before she dedicated herself to art, Claudia had already graduated in Psychology and dedicated to study basic science.
Her first literary experience in 2001 brought her to publish her first book: Díptico de buena mesa y brujeria. As an artist, she had dedicated herself to painting, graphical works and drawings, skills which she obtained during her studies in Cuba and Italy.
In her latest book, Otro Mundo Florecido, Claudia created an optimistic and magical vision of the real world, but, at the same time, a dreamy and deep poetic vision. Through both text and picturesque illustrations, the reader is questioned about the really important issues in life and what is actually important. Fantasy and reality have confusing limits, established by the sensation and the emotion that the world offers to everyone.
Claudia’s work is an invitation to dream, experiment and fantasize about the possibilities and the interpretation of the world in its free form, happy but not less serious nor important.
During the past three years, Claudia has dedicated herself to develop her creative talent through investigation of mixed techniques, using the most traditional ways in graphic work, like the dry point technique which Claudia masters excellently and is her favorite technique. She combines, creates and recreates this technique delicately and with new concepts and images, as an important part in imaginary graphic art development, with which contemporary technology has only just begun to play.
"My inspiration are words, dreams, poetry, fantasy.... the beauty of the world. Art is the best way for me to express my interior life, my feelings and my happiness. It is a way of saying thanks to life. I'm very grateful with the divine powers for having given me this skill."
